Abdul Ghani Alipoor

Abdul Ghani Alipoor, also known as Commander Shamshir (lit. Sword), is a local commander in the Behsud District of Maidan Wardak, Afghanistan. He is known for establishing an armed resistance group against Kuchis in Behsud¹. On March 20, 2021, TOLOnews published a video² of an Afghan Defense Force helicopter being hit by a laser-guided weapon claiming to be by Alipoor’s men³. The aircraft was downed on March 18, 2021, at around 1:30 AM⁴. Since, in retaliation, the Afghan Security Forces have launched an assault against Alipoor.
