On the early morning of May 6, 2011, a terrorist attack took place near a park at the cemetery in Hazara Town. The attack targeted Hazaras who would usually get out for morning exercise. There were three rockets fired which were followed by heavy gunfire. Lashkar e Jhangvi, a Pakistani militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
