The Siege of Behsud started on March 20, 2021, after an Afghan Security Forces helicopter was downed1 in Behsud District, Wardak Province of Afghanistan on March 18, 2021 2. The Ministry of Defense stated there was “adequate evidence” that the helicopter was downed by Alipoor‘s men3, a local commander. The operation was called a “revenge” by the Ministry of Defense 4 5 and Ashraf Ghani6 7 president of Afghanistan.
